I think if you whole goal in exercising and diet was to just be skinny then this article makes sense, but if you ride bikes because you like it and want to be a fast bike rider and not just a skinny one, then you need to find a good balance. Personally, I've had my best seasons when I hit the bars on off nights and I know MANY racers than had "break through" performances the day after HEAVY drinking.

And frankly, 150 calories a drink is a joke if you are burning 3000+ calories on your training rides.

    Cold weather gear:
Gloves and a full head tube/scarf thingy. Don't know what it's called but it's like giant thin sock with a hole for your eyes and nose. Those to things will make riding in the cold a whole lot easier and there not expensive.
after that, wind/water proof jacket/coat of some kind. May not be cheap.
Long underwear pants/leggings, can be almost anything that will fit under your pants, so cheap is ok.

I was going to bring my bike until I found out the bike fee was $175 each way, and that`s more money than I paid for it.

My only option for cheap bikes I`ve found so far are shitty singlespeed cruisers which are incapable of anything close to fast, and that just irritates me going so slow.

If we had been sponsored by Nike, the ride would have been more like this.

Oh, and they only road around 300 Miles. Pffffttt. I can do that in 2 or 3 days. Oh wait, I did, with three other blokes.

That nike video is pretty lame. I like the remix though. Loved that song when I was a kid. Riding a fixed gear to vegas will turn you into an elitist. At least they didn't just drive it in their SUV and brag about that.

Too lazy to look into that video any further... how long did the London to paris ride actually take them?

Also, I'll be back in a week. Bitches. I hope you're all riding hard and can blow me out of the water when I get back, or else you might not get (totally awesome) gifts from Japan.
